Wondering What BLOG is?

These are the first few letters of my very first blog while i'm sitting idle in office (my YM status reads - In Office without Work), though it's time to go home but, somehow, not feeling like saying bye to my desk, to my system, to my chair (though it's not that comfortable as i want it to be). Is this HomePhobia or should i group myself with OffioPhiles!!

By the way, i was wondering what could possibly blog mean? and, how come this online writing got christened as BLOG. Yeah, yeah, i know i can get an answer to this by simply typing a few keywords in the our so very "favourite search engine" (replace this with your fav one, i would replace it with GOOGLE, of course;)).

Without drifting any more from the topic, i summon all my thinking (rather NON THINKING) power to find the answer to "how could possibly BLOG got its name".

I know, logging is writing WHATEVER, WHAT_SO_EVER in a file. So the suffix LOG could have been taken from that. The most weird part is this prefix "B". I could have thought of an "e" as in e-mail as eLog is easier to relate to.

Has this "B" got something to do with its inventor. Probably the person who concieved the idea of this electronic writing has his/her name starting with B

Or is this B taken from "BUG" as in "bug someone with your logs". Anyone (like me) may come in, write anything (like this blog) he/she wants. And, all those (like you ;) ) who read this "anything" get BUGGED!! Well that's the weirdest i could think of.

I am definitely going to search for my Answer some time. Till then do me a favor - keep posting your weirdest guesses so that i too get bugged as you were, just recently!
